Commercial Energy Performance Certificates

Silverstem provide Non-Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (NDEPC) for any commercial (retail, industrial, office etc) properties being built, rented or sold.  For all commercial buildings, energy performance certificates are required by UK & European law.

The Non-Domestic Energy Performance Certificate (NDEPC) records how energy efficient a property is as a building and provides A-G ratings. These ratings are standard in the energy efficiency field are very similar to the labels provided with on a domestic energy performance certificate. Each building will have a performance rating based on its services (such as heating and lighting), rather than the domestic appliances within it. This is called and asset rating. Variations in ratings will apply according to the age, location, size and condition of the building.

The main components of a Non-Domestic Energy Performance Certificate are:

Recommendation report - this provides information about ways to improve the energy performance of the property.

Reference information - this includes the type of property, the unique reference number (as stored in the central register) and date of the certificate.

Energy Assessor details - this includes the assessor's name, accreditation number, company name and contact details.

Complaints - the certificate will provide information about how to complain or how to check the certificate is authentic.

From October 2008 Commercial Energy Performance Certificates have been required upon sale, lease or construction for all non-dwellings.  The buildings can range from offices to industrial units, and size-wise can range from a small retail unit to a large public building.
